A Cricket Tasmania statement was released on Thursday before general manager of high performance Salliann Beams elaborated on Freeman's break on Friday.
"We're really comfortable with it because we've taken the measures to fully support Jarrod through this process," she said.
"We're not comfortable in where we are at for him and there are always ways that we want to look and make sure that we are catching these things early.
"What Jarrod needs now is that break so he can focus on himself so we can get him back to living his daily life as easily as he can."
She said the organisation plays a key role in improving the 23-year-old's mental health, with weekly meetings taking place.
"We are having meetings between myself, our player development manager, our team doctor and our psychologist," she said.
"That will happen all the way through this process to make sure that he's heading in the right direction and potentially when things don't go the right way, we have the support around him to make sure we can get him back on track."
Beams reiterated there is strong communication between Freeman and the organisation, with the aim eventually to get him back playing club cricket.
The former George Town and Mowbray cricketer was named the Emerson-Rodwell Medallist for the best player in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League.
Across 15 matches for Lindisfarne last season, he scored 672 runs at an average of 51.69 and took 25 wickets at 22.48.
A fully-contracted player with Cricket Tasmania, Freeman also played 11 Sheffield Shield matches for the Tigers - taking 18 wickets at an average of 46.22.
In between his Tasmanian commitments, he featured for Cricket North side Mowbray in a two-day fixture against Riverside - taking 6-60 off 30 overs.
