Social media users are warned that fighters from the Palestinian militant group Hamas could broadcast horrifying videos of hostages on X, formerly Twitter, as the conflict continues.

"In a few hours, Hamas terrorists will be posting photos and videos of hostages and torture on all social media platforms," Australian entrepreneur Thérèse Rein said on X.
"Please absolutely do not share these videos or photos; they are part of psychological warfare.
"Absolutely prevent your children from watching them; they are not suitable for children and will be terrifying.
"These captives are real human beings who are being objectified and exploited for visibility, likes and to break our spirit. Please don't add to that by viewing or sharing," the wife of former prime minister Kevin Rudd said.

An Israeli official said between 100 and 150 hostages were being held in Gaza, according to CNN.
Israeli parents were urged to delete social media apps including TikTok, X and Instagram from their child's smartphone as fears grow over the dissemination of graphic content.
A parent's association in Tel Aviv warned that videos could contain hostages "begging for their lives", CNN reported.
Foreign minister Penny Wong said on Wednesday that "Australia unequivocally condemns the attacks on Israel by Hamas".
"There is no excuse for the deliberate killing of innocent civilians.
"The loss of life from these attacks has been devastating and unacceptable. Australia has called for the attacks to stop and for the immediate and unconditional release of all those taken hostage," she said.
