The Hurricanes struggled in the absence of injured import Heather Knight last season, winning just two of their 14 games to finish bottom of the table.
But Tasmania’s brilliant start to the WNCL season under new state coach Salliann Briggs and Knight’s impending WBBL return has many excited for what the 2018-19 campaign will bring.
O’Donnell said she was looking forward to meeting up with her new teammates after snagging four wickets in two WNCL matches for Victoria.
“I’m very excited to be working under Sall and amongst a great group of girls as well as brushing shoulders with some high-class internationals in Heather Knight and Hayley Matthews,” O’Donnell said.
“Tasmania is a beautiful place which I'd love to explore and what better way to do that than playing Big Bash.”
The Hurricanes play their first match on December 1 in Melbourne.
