Slava and Leonard Grigoryan are regarded as one of Australia’s finest guitar duos and they will soon be appearing in Launceston.
Off the back of international reviews, including The New York Times describing their guitar playing as having “uncommon originality and authority”, they will be performing at the Queen Victoria Art Gallery in early February.
They aim to take classical guitar to new levels, by exploring genres such as jazz, folk, and contemporary music.
While some might stick to a single genre, the Grigoryan Brothers combine them to transform the compositions.
The Launceston performance will showcase works from their latest release, which revisits their classical repertoire.
Featuring compositions from Bach, Elgar, Dvorak, Rachmaninoff and Ponce, the arrangement was created by their father Edward.
Their style is the culmination of classical training, collaborations and a deep appreciation of music.
Their music can not be described as simply classical, jazz or world music, it is unique the Grigoryan Brothers.
- The Grigoryan Brothers will perform at the Queen Victoria Art Gallery at Royal Park on February 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Theatre North box office, by calling 03 63233666, and by going online to theatrenorth.com.au
