A window-seat view of an airplane wing provided the inspiration for the Life Species furniture exhibition by Simon Ancher.
Life Species opened last night at the Design Centre's Launceston showroom and runs until October 19.
The collection, consisting of seven pieces of dark walnut and blackwood furniture, is the first body of work developed by the newly badged Simon Ancher Studio.
Mr Ancher, the director of furniture design at the University of Tasmania's school of architecture and design, said the exhibition aimed to represent sustainability, harnessed efficiency and minimal material use.
