The theatre performance is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story written in 1836, and has been showcased to Tasmanian fans since opening night on Thursday.
Directing his first production for the Launceston Musical Society, Newstead College music and drama teacher Chris Cabalzar said the show would “delight people of all ages”.
“It’s a childhood classic that has been through generations,” he said.
“It’s about overcoming adversity, and devotion to a love that’s almost impossible. It’s that father-daughter relationship.
“Those universal themes of hope and love really reaches out to people. There’s something in it for everyone, not just kids but for adults as well.”
‘The Little Mermaid’ will be showing on Saturday at 2pm and at 7.30pm.
