LAST season’s TCL A-grade grand finalists showed they will again be forces to be reckoned with this season with premiers Trevallyn and runner-up Longford both recording double Twenty20 matches in the opening round of the season yesterday.

Trevallyn had an eight-wicket victory over Uni-Mowbray at Trevallyn but a much-tighter contest against competition newcomer Perth, getting home by nine runs.
Uni-Mowbray made 8-117, batting first against Trevallyn with Corey Plumbridge top scoring with a good knock of 53.
Matthew Woods the best of the Trevallyn attack with figures of 2-17.
But the Trevallyn openers in captain-coach Damian Whybrow and Shannon Rumbel made short work of knocking off the total with Trevallyn getting home easily for the loss of two wickets.
Whybrow hit 43 off 24 balls with five sixes and a four while Rumbel made 25 with three sixes and a four.
MIchael Hall also batted well to make 28 off 37 balls.
In its second game against Perth, Trevallyn scored 124, with Rumbel again among the runs, top scoring with 33, while Hall made 19.
Dean Hawkins picked up 2-4 for Perth.
Perth scored 8-115 in reply its first game in the TCL competition with Phil Fulton top scoring with 31 not out and Brodie Brown making 27.
Woods, Glenn Gleeson and Brett Charlton took two wickets each for Trevallyn.
Diggers won their first match of the season beating Perth in their game at Trevallyn.
Perth made 9-107 with Fulton again batting well to make 25 and Troy Rudling 21.
Adam Henderson bowled well for Diggers picking up 3-12 and Adam Davie took 2-13.
Diggers chased down the total finishing at 4-109, with Troy Price top scoring with 45 and Davie making 21 at the top of the order.
Longford had double victories out at Hadspen defeating the home side by 20 runs and Beauty Point by 42, in its other match.
The Tigers made 120 against the Chieftains with John McCoy top scoring with 35 and Jackson Blair making 25.
Matthew Green and was the best of the Hadspen bowlers taking 5-6.
Hadspen managed 100 in reply with Damien Martin top scoring with 32.
Brett Martin was the Tigers most productive bowler picking up 4-20.
In its match against Beauty Point, the Tigers made 8-135, with Robert Moore top scoring with 30 and Rob Eltringham taking 2-17 with the ball for Beauty Point.
The Point made 93 in reply with Eltringham top scoring with 25 and Aiden Hume taking 3-24 for Longford.
Hadspen went winless for the day after going down to Legana by 36 runs in the Durhams only game of the round.
Legana made 6-134 with Adam Bourke the star with 52 and Stuart Brown making 22.
In reply, Hadspen managed 98, with Simon Clay top scoring with 20.
Billy Isaac picked up 3-20, with the ball for Legana.
