Hundreds of Bucket-donning Hobart Hurricanes fans lined up outside the stadium hours before the game was set to start, eager to watch the boys in purple face-off against the Melbourne Stars.
For Noel Eagling of Launceston, it was his grandson, Solomon that got him into the Hobart Hurricanes.
"I've been a fan a couple of years now, my grandson got me into the Hurricanes," Mr Eagling said.
Karen, Shayla, Phoenix and Travis House travelled from Shearwater for the game.
"It's hot, but beautiful ... it's meant to rain tonight but that's alright, it'll cool us all down," Karen House said.
"We've been to a few BBL games, Phoenix has been but when he was little - this'll be the first one he remembers."
And rain it did, with the game being postponed due to the deluge and being continued late into Monday night.
