The cattle were part of a Greenhams shipment from its operations at Stanley to its processing facility at Port Welshpool in Victoria.
The cattle were aboard LD Shipping vessel MV Statesman.
On arrival in Victoria 59 animals were found either dead or injured.
The injured animals had to be euthanased as a result of their injuries.
The matter is being jointly investigated by the Primary Industries, Water and Environment Department (DPIPWE), RSPCA Tasmania and the Victorian Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources Department.
An updated statement on the investigation on Thursday said DPIPWE was continuing to work with all relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the cattle.
‘‘The department is focused on ensuring that the matter is thoroughly investigated and it will be completed once all relevant information has been obtained on the matter,’’ the statement read.
The statement said all conditions of the crossing would be investigated to determine what caused the deaths.
It is unknown when the investigation will be completed.
LD Shipping has cited unprecedented and rogue waves as the cause for the cattle deaths.
