Christopher Mark Jordan, 37, of Buckneys Road, was not represented by a lawyer when he made the application in the Supreme Court in Launceston.
He is charged with the murder of Ms Tatnell on April 30, 2023 - the night she disappeared from Henry Street in Launceston at about 8.30pm.
Mr Jordan was charged after human remains were found at a bush block near Nabowla, about 16 kilometres west of Scottsdale.
A surety, a person who pledges an amount of money to ensure his next appearance in court, who was nominated by Mr Jordan, was not at the court.
Mr Jordan asked that the bail application go ahead.
He had previously made a bail application in January 9, 2024, when circumstances were largely the same as at present.
Grants of bail in the cases of alleged murder are exceptionally rare but include Cedric and Noelene Jordan who were bailed after pleading not guilty to the murder of Campbell Town man Shane Geoffrey Barker.
Any grant of bail must be in exceptional circumstances.
Bail was opposed by crown prosecutor Claire Darvell.
Justice Pearce refused the application and remanded him in custody to reappear in the Launceston Magistrates court on May 14 for preliminary proceedings.
Mr Jordan also faces charges of failing to comply with ammunition storage requirements, possession of a controlled plant and possession of a prohibited import.
